The United Kingdom surely wants to work on the safety measures of its citizens and so they have come up with a new idea. They have put forward a suggestion for tech firms all over.
Big-Tech companies provide verification tools to their users
The United Kingdom government has asked all the big tech companies like Facebook, Twitter and Google to provide their users with a verification tool so that the proliferation of anonymous trolls could be blocked with a click on their platforms.
The idea put forward by them is very important in terms of safety measures. The UK wants big firms such as Facebook, Google and Twitter to verify their user’s identities.
They have proposed these changes in their new upcoming Online Safety Bill. The bill works out to protect all online platform users from content which could be harmful to them in any kind of way.
The online tool should be provided by all these big firms so that the anonymous online trolls could be blocked, and the users could be protected from harmful comments and content. It is the duty of the online platforms only to stop their platforms from being polluted by the dirt of all the online anonymous trolls.

The United Kingdom’s government has put forward a demand for a proper identity-verifying tool.
They want the platforms to issue a tool that would for real verify the identity of their users and would ask for some kind of government-issued identity cards before enrolling themselves on these social platforms.
The facial recognition system could be used to keep the safety measures on top so that no kind of safety of its users can be hampered. The facial recognition method could be used to verify the profile photos or display pictures of its users. Not only can this but the big firms surely install the two-factor authentication system.
This system can be used to verify their user’s identities via text messages to see that it is the person and no an anonymous person. The government-issued ID cards can be asked for by these social handles when the person is creating or updating his profile.
The government-issued ID cards such as passports can be used for the same. Meanwhile, one of the giant firms, Twitter has recently reported that they have seen the provisions of the Online Safety Bills and that they are reviewing it and are bringing in proper measures to bring a good change to protect their users from anonymous online trolls.
The main purpose of all social media firms is to provide their users with a “safe internet for all-whether or not someone can or chooses to verify themselves.”
The Online Safety Bill has been still worked upon and has not been out with the changes yet. It surely is worked upon and will soon come into effect. But if the tech firms are unable to follow the provisions of this Online Safety Bill, it would cost them at least 10% of their global annual earnings.
