The United Kingdom proposed to bring some changes to the Online Safety Bills. The changes have been requested due to concerns over the bill’s impact on free speech.
The bill has been drafted for years now but hasn’t been put into action yet and so the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss said that she will be going to push the changes forward so that the country’s overall freedom of speech is not hampered anymore. Hopefully, she would bring in the right amount of changes required.

The bill is said to be extended. The Online Safety Bill will go to include scam ads. They have received a lot of pressure from the campaigners and so it is decided that the bill will be going to make scam ads a part of it. The government has also been consulting about making stronger the existing regulations of the online advertisement industry.
A huge range of options will be laid down to tighten the rules meant for advertisers. It is to be considered one of the most important and basic steps that need to be taken.
The government of the United Kingdom in May 2021 published the draft of the Online Safety Bill. The government claimed that the bill will be having some major changes required. It would impose a duty of care on all online digital service providers to make user-generated content.

The content which should be published on the internet should not hamper anyone’s feelings. It should be taken care of that the content published online should not at all be harmful to the minors who surf online.
So the content should be all user-friendly and user productivity. The parliamentary committee is regularly going through the proposal to see what changes have been demanded.
Many members are giving calls to the parliamentary body both from inside and outside to suggest changes and also to make sure that legislation does not fail in any way. The parliament is making its best possible effort to see that all the targets are hit and all the necessary changes suggested are made.

Moreover, the past bills have faced a lot of criticism as they were considered too weak; there have been several announcements from the Department of Digital, Cultural Media and Sports DCMS, short, to make even more provisions to strengthen the proposal and to make the Online Safety Bill more efficient and stronger.
DCMS first wants that the pornography websites should make sure that age is checked before the user access the website. The age checks will ensure that no children are accessing such content online. And not only this but even the criminal content and any offenses related to them should also be taken down from several platforms
